Muse 3 Farm is a small, startup family farm established in 2015 by four brothers — Allen, Burnell, Chris, and Mittie Muse — who chose to return home after more than 35 years working in government and corporate careers. We came back to the land where we were raised to reinstate our family farm and provide healthy, local food to our community. The Save Our Bacon Act and Food Security and Farm Protection Act would devastate farms like ours.

Our farm spans more than 200 acres, with timberland and pristine pasture where cattle, sheep, goats and chickens graze freely on Bahia grass. We steward our soil and animals with traditional and modern care, ensuring sustainable growth that supports both our region and future generations. Our mission is simple: to offer farm-fresh food directly from farm to table to promote healthier eating and better living.

State and local agricultural laws play a vital role in making this possible. They allow small farms like ours to meet community needs, uphold responsible farming practices and remain economically viable. The proposed legislation would strip states of that authority, replacing local decision-making with policies that favor large, industrialized corporations.

Family farms already face significant hurdles, from rising costs to market consolidation. Removing state-level protections would make it even harder for independent farms to survive and would push agriculture further into the hands of a few corporate interests — at the expense of food quality, farmer livelihoods and rural communities.

Healthy food begins with healthy farms. We need policies that support farmers who are committed to the land, their animals and their community — not legislation that undermines them. We urge U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy and U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow to firmly stand against the Save Our Bacon Act and Food Security and Farm Protection Act and stand with family farms.
